Three days of public mourning declared in Iran in honor of the martyrs of the country’s national resistance battle
The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced three days of public mourning across the country on Monday, January 12th.
According to Iranian media reports, this decision was made in honor of the martyrdom of a group of Basij members of the security and law enforcement forces during the recent unrest and terrorist attacks in the country.
The Iranian government has described these incidents as a “battle of Iranian national resistance against America and the Zionist regime” and has called the perpetrators “ISIS-like urban terrorists affiliated with America.”
The statement from the country’s cabinet states that the Iranian nation has been deeply touched by how terrorist criminals have used unprecedented violence against the people of the Basij and security forces, killing many loved ones. This violence has so far only been seen in the behavior of the US-backed ISIS.
These three days of public mourning began today and will continue until the end of Wednesday.
