Hamas: The Ibrahimi Mosque will remain a purely Islamic mosque

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) described in a statement on Thursday the Zionist regime’s decision to strip the authority to manage the Ibrahimi Mosque from the Hebron Municipality and transfer it to the occupiers’ management structure as a very dangerous step on the path of Judaization that targets the Islamic identity of the mosque and the Arab and Islamic identity of the city of Hebron.

Hamas emphasized that this action is a continuation of the occupying regime’s efforts to impose dominance over lands and holy sites in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and challenges UNESCO’s decisions to register the Ibrahimi Shrine and the Old City of Hebron on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

The statement states that the policy of imposing the de facto by the occupiers will not change historical and legal facts and that the Ibrahimi Mosque is a purely Islamic mosque.

The city of Hebron will also remain a Palestinian and Arab city, and the Palestinian people will confront these plans with steadfastness and resistance.
