Russia is not yet ready to accept Afghan migrant workers
Russian Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov told RIA Novosti that his country is not ready to accept a large number of migrant workers from Afghanistan for security reasons.
He stated: “We cannot fully open our doors to a large number of people whom we are not sure of our ability to fully control. This is against the law and there is currently no guarantee or operational mechanism for it.”
Kabulov warned that if not carefully controlled, there is a risk of malicious elements infiltrating migrants.
He added that such a possibility is possible in the future but would need to be carefully organized and monitored, and that there are currently no plans for it.
The Russian official emphasized that the necessary explanations in this regard have been provided to the Afghan ambassador in Moscow.
According to him, the current quota for accepting Afghan workers in Russia is approximately 80 people per year.
