ISIS claims responsibility for bombing of Imam Ali Mosque in Homs, Syria
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Imam Ali Mosque in the central Syrian city of Homs.
The explosion, which occurred during Friday prayers, left 8 dead and 27 injured, according to updated reports.
Previously, the number of martyrs was announced as 5 and the number of injured as 21, with initial investigations indicating that the explosion was caused by bombs planted inside the mosque.
Rescue forces were immediately dispatched to the scene and the Rukhmians were transferred to hospitals.
This attack is the first alleged ISIS action in Syria after a period of relative calm in the central regions of the country.
