Amir Khan Muttaqi: The occupation of Afghanistan was a big mistake for the occupiers. Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires

At a ceremony marking the 46th anniversary of the Soviet invasion on January 6, Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, called the occupation of Afghanistan by the three great powers a “big mistake” and emphasized that the occupiers committed this mistake as a result of deceiving “their slaves.” Muttaqi added that the defeat of the three occupiers in Afghanistan is a lesson for foreigners not to repeat such a mistake.

The defeat of the occupiers in Afghanistan led not only to their local defeat but also to their global defeat.

On the one hand, Afghanistan is a graveyard of empires, and on the other hand, it has brought good to the region and the world by defeating the occupiers.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that Afghans have always been united and united in the face of various incidents.

He referred to the recent tension with the neighboring country, natural events, and the return of refugees, and said that in these circumstances, the people of Afghanistan have been supporting each other.

Regarding the recent border incidents with Tajikistan, Mottaqi stated that we have launched a serious investigation, have contacted the Tajik Foreign Minister, and are working together to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. Some biased circles are seeking to destroy relations between the two countries and make the atmosphere appear unsafe.

Emphasizing a peaceful foreign policy, he added: “We have no intention of harming anyone, and we do not accept harm from others.”

Just as we are ready to make any sacrifice to defend the country’s privacy and values, we will also present the best arguments at the negotiating table.

The Foreign Minister concluded by saying that we do not want Afghanistan to be a field of negative competition between great powers, but rather a field of economic competition and regional connectivity.

We resolve issues through dialogue, provided that the other party has good intentions and a genuine desire to resolve the problems
