Afghan youth sentenced to three years in prison in Russia
The Central Court of Omsk, Russia, sentenced a 23-year-old Afghan man who stabbed a local citizen on Lenin Street last summer (July 24, 2025) to three years in prison.
Russian media reported that in addition to the prison sentence, the defendant was also sentenced to pay 700,000 rubles (about $7,000) in compensation to the injured in the incident.
The ruling comes at a time when similar cases of violent crimes among immigrants in Russia are sometimes accompanied by strong social reactions.
