Explosion in Imam Ali (AS) Mosque in Homs, Syria, At least 5 martyred and 21 injured
The official Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that the number of martyrs has increased to 5 and the number of injured to 21 following an explosion at the Imam Ali (AS) Mosque located in the Wadi al-Dhahab area of Homs city.
Initial reports indicate that the explosion occurred during Friday prayers, and a security source told SANA that preliminary investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by bombs planted inside the mosque, although some local sources initially spoke of the possibility of a suicide attack.
Al-Mayadeen and Al-Jazeera networks confirmed the explosion and reported the presence of rescue forces at the scene to transport the wounded.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the incident, and investigations are ongoing to clarify the details.
