Border clash in Tajikistan: Two soldiers killed in confrontation with infiltrating militants from Afghanistan
Tajikistan’s National Security Committee said its border guards clashed with a group of armed militants who had entered Khatlan province from Afghanistan.
Two Tajik soldiers were killed and three militants were killed in the clash.
Tajik security forces also managed to seize weapons and ammunition, including rifles, grenade launchers, and night vision cameras.
This incident is the third attack from Afghan soil into Tajikistan in the past month, with Chinese citizens being targeted in previous attacks.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan had earlier assured Tajikistan that it was ready to tighten border security measures and conduct joint investigations.
These clashes have raised concerns about the security of the shared borders between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
