Imran Khan calls 17-year prison sentence “predetermined” and calls on people to protest
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, after being sentenced to 17 years in prison in the corruption case known as “Tosha Khan 2,” called the sentence “predetermined” and called on the people of Pakistan to take to the streets to protest against it.
In a statement released from prison, Khan announced that he and his wife Bushra Begum were being subjected to mental torture in Adiala Jail and were being held in solitary confinement.
He also asked the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to prepare for protests.
Imran Khan emphasized that the struggle for freedom is like “worship” and people must rise up against this unjust ruling.
Pakistan’s federal intelligence minister, on the other hand, called the Islamabad court’s verdict based on justice, saying Imran Khan and his wife had seized billions of dollars in government gifts at a small cost.
