UK bans travel to Afghanistan, warns of security risks

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice, strongly advising British citizens to avoid all travel to Afghanistan and has issued a serious warning of widespread security risks across the country.

The recommendation points to recent tensions and clashes along the hypothetical Durand Line between Afghanistan and Pakistan and stresses that this situation has made travel in border areas and even the entire country much more dangerous.

Many major routes and border ports remain closed, making movement and entry and exit extremely difficult.

The warning comes as border tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue from time to time.

Since 2021, Britain has called on all its citizens to immediately leave Afghanistan.
