Storms and floods add new pain to the wounds of the people of Gaza

Heavy rains accompanied by strong storms in recent hours and days have turned the situation in the Gaza Strip into a veritable hell for its displaced residents.

The temporary tents, which were the only shelter for thousands of displaced families, have become completely useless against the floods and strong winds, and water has seeped into the tents.

Many displaced people have been forced to stay in the mud or seek higher ground.

This natural crisis is occurring at a time when Gaza’s infrastructure has been severely damaged after months of conflict, and the sewage and drainage system is practically out of order.

Aid agencies have warned that the risk of disease outbreaks has increased sharply, especially among children and the elderly.

Activists and residents of Gaza have described the situation as “a disaster upon a disaster” and have called for urgent international assistance to provide more resilient shelters and relief supplies.
