Deadly shooting at Jewish festival in Australia leaves at least 12 dead

At least 12 people were killed and dozens injured in an attack on a Hanukkah (Jewish festival of lights) celebration on Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach in Australia.

New South Wales Police said the shooting occurred on Sunday evening (December 14, 2025) and that one of the attackers was killed while another suspect is in a critical condition.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the incident as a “targeted terrorist attack against the Jewish community” on the first day of Hanukkah, calling it devastating.

Eyewitnesses reported that armed attackers fired into the crowd from a bridge near the beach, sending hundreds of people fleeing in panic into the streets and parks.

The attack has sparked widespread reactions from Israeli authorities and the Australian Jewish community, and a police investigation is ongoing.
