Germany cancels admission of hundreds of Afghans with previous promises
The German Interior Ministry announced that hundreds of Afghan citizens who were promised admission in the previous coalition government led by Angela Merkel will no longer be allowed to enter the country.
Deutsche Welle reported, citing a spokesperson for the German Interior Ministry, that in the coming days, people on the temporary admission program list or the “human rights” list will be officially informed that “there is no political interest in admitting them.”
According to the report, about 640 Afghan citizens currently in Pakistan awaiting transfer to Germany will be covered by the decision and will not be eligible for admission.
The Interior Ministry spokesman emphasized that this decision only relates to the promises of the previous government and that new local admission programs
Some states are still continuing their Landesaufnahmeprogramme.
