Two Afghan asylum seekers sentenced to long prison terms in Britain for raping 15-year-old girl
On Monday, a British court sentenced two Afghan refugee teenagers, Jan Jahanzeb (17) and Asrar Niazal (17), to more than 10 years and more than 9 years in prison, respectively, for kidnapping and gang-raping a 15-year-old British girl.
According to Reuters, the two defendants separated the drunk victim from her friends and raped her in a park in Brighton in May 2025.
A video recorded by the victim herself was played during the court hearing, in which she could be heard crying loudly and shouting, “Please help me, let me go, I want to go home.”
Both defendants entered the UK illegally via the English Channel last year.
Judge Silvia Bertodano emphasized that the two deserve to be deported from the UK after serving their sentences and that by committing this crime they have betrayed the public trust and the status of other asylum seekers.
