Transfer of 42 historical coins to Nangarhar Museum
The Ministry of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate announced that 42 ancient coins, including one silver coin and 41 copper coins, were transferred from Kabul to the Nangarhar Provincial Museum for display after being cleaned, identified, and registered by a professional team of the Archaeology Department.
These coins were discovered in recent years from the ancient site of “Ghundi Sabzabad” in Nangarhar Province and belong to the Indo-Scythian, Greek, Western Indian, Parthian-Kushani, and Sassanid-Kushani periods from the 3rd century BC to the 6th century AD.
Sayed Zabihullah Sadat, head of archaeology at the Ministry of Information and Culture, said: “These coins reflect the identity, political, cultural history, and economic and social exchanges of past governments and nations, and play an important role in understanding the rich civilization of Afghanistan.”
He added that the professional employees of this department work with full commitment to the standards and policies of the Islamic Emirate to preserve and introduce the country’s cultural heritage.
