Putin: The Islamic Emirate has complete control over Afghanistan and this fact must be accepted
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with the Indian media Republic that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has full control over the situation in the country and the international community must accept this fact.
Praising the performance of the Islamic Emirate, Putin said: “The current leaders of Afghanistan are capable and responsible individuals who are openly fighting terrorism, especially the ISIS group, and have significantly reduced the production of opium poppy.”
The Russian President emphasized that any country that wants to play a positive and constructive role in the stability of Afghanistan and the region must engage directly and realistically with the Islamic Emirate, like Russia.
Putin’s remarks come as Moscow has significantly expanded its relations with Kabul in recent months and removed the name of the Islamic Emirate (Taliban) from Russia’s list of banned organizations.
