Malaysian PM urges Pakistan to resolve tensions with Afghanistan peacefully

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed concern over the worrying situation along the hypothetical Durand Line between Afghanistan and Pakistan and called for a peaceful resolution of the existing tensions.

After the conversation, Anwar Ibrahim wrote on his Facebook page: “Regional stability is of particular importance to Malaysia, and all parties must find a solution through dialogue and diplomacy to prevent the escalation of tensions.”

The call comes as tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated significantly after a series of clashes and attacks in October in the border areas of the Durand Line.

In this telephone conversation, the Malaysian Prime Minister also exchanged views with his Pakistani counterpart on strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and Pakistan.
