Senior Afghan and Iranian industry and trade officials meet in Kabul, focusing on increasing cotton and agricultural exports
Maulvi Shahabuddin Saqib, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration and Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of the country, met with Ms. Maryam Jalili Moghadam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Iran, and her accompanying delegation.
In this meeting, which was held with the broad presence of Afghan cotton activists and producers, the two sides emphasized the need to expand exports of Afghan cotton and other agricultural products to Iran, remove customs and transportation barriers, improve quality standards, and establish direct connections between Afghan producers and Iranian traders.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s press release announced that the parties agreed to continue technical and expert consultations to develop and implement permanent mechanisms to facilitate bilateral trade, especially in the agricultural products sector.
This meeting was held to strengthen economic relations between the two neighboring countries and increase the volume of trade exchanges between Kabul and Tehran.
