Pope Leo XIV concludes four-day visit to Turkey, Lebanon next destination with message of peace

Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the world’s Catholics, concluded his four-day visit to Turkey today, Sunday, November 30, 2025, and departed for the crisis-stricken country with a peaceful message for the people of Lebanon.

On the eve of the Pope’s arrival in Lebanon, Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary General of Lebanese Hezbollah, welcomed the visit at this critical juncture and considered it a sign of global solidarity with the Lebanese people.

In an official letter to Pope Leo, Hezbollah in Lebanon referred to the Zionist regime’s continued aggression against Lebanon and the crimes of genocide in Gaza, and called on him to take a firm stance in condemning these actions and to be the voice of the oppressed in the region.

The Pope’s visit to Lebanon, which will continue until December 2, will include meetings with government officials, prayers at the Beirut port in memory of the victims of the 2020 explosion, a pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint Charbel, and the planting of a symbolic cedar tree at the Lebanese presidential palace.

The trip comes as Lebanon faces an economic crisis, border unrest, and widespread displacement.
