Starship fails again, SpaceX’s space giant explodes in Florida sky

The giant Starship Enterprise spacecraftSpaceX suffered an explosion on its ninth test flight on Saturday morning (November 22, 2025) minutes after launch from Boca Chica, Texas, and its Super Heavy booster was completely destroyed.

The launch was the first test flight of the new version of Starship V3, which, with major changes to the Raptor engine design and increased fuel capacity, is vital for future missions to the moon as part of NASA’s Artemis program and the ambitious plan for a manned journey to Mars.

This is the second consecutive Starship failure in the last two months. In the previous flight, the booster exploded after successful separation.

Today’s explosion was so powerful that the US Federal Aviation Administration was forced to close airspace for minutes, and flights at four Florida airports, including Orlando and Tampa, were delayed and canceled.

SpaceX has not yet announced the timing of the next test flight, but this failure could seriously delay the plan to send the cargo version of Starship to the moon in 2026.
