Iraq completes 605-kilometer border wall with Syria at a cost of $25 billion
The Iraqi government announced that construction of a security wall along its 605-kilometer border with Syria has been fully completed.
This massive project, implemented at a cost of over $25 billion from the Iraqi budget, includes concrete walls, guard towers, thermal cameras, motion sensors, and anti-vehicle ditches.
With the completion of this wall, four of Syria’s six neighboring countries have now begun to build security barriers on their borders.

Lebanon is the only country among Syria’s land neighbors that has not yet built any security wall or fence on its shared border.
Iraqi officials have stated that the purpose of this wall is to prevent the infiltration of terrorist elements, human and weapons trafficking, and to fully control the borders after the recent developments in Syria.
