At least 4 injured in gas cylinder blast at Pakistan’s Supreme Court
At least four people were injured in a powerful explosion in the underground cafeteria of the Supreme Court building in Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to local media reports, the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder during repairs to the air conditioning (AC) system and caused severe vibrations throughout the building.
Lawyers and court staff immediately evacuated the building and moved to open spaces outside the premises; security rescue and bomb disposal (BDS) teams quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion, but initial authorities have described it as a non-security incident; the death toll could change, although no fatalities have been reported so far.
Rescue operations and building safety checks are underway, and court sessions have been temporarily suspended
