Afghanistan, Pakistan end talks in Istanbul with agreement to meet again
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, said the talks with Pakistan in Turkey had ended with an agreement to meet again to discuss the remaining issues.
Mr. Mujahid appreciated the mediation of Turkey and Qatar, highlighted the principled position of the Islamic Emirate in resolving problems through diplomacy and understanding, adding that Afghanistan wants positive relations with Pakistan based on mutual respect, non-interference and non-threat.
The talks, held in Istanbul from October 25 to 30, aimed to consolidate the Doha ceasefire.
Meanwhile, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced that another high-level meeting will be held in Istanbul on November 6 to determine mechanisms for monitoring, verification and punishment of violators.
Tensions began after Pakistan violated Afghanistan’s air and land space and attacked Kabul and Paktika, which was responded to by the Ministry of Defense’s retaliatory operations.
