The fourth meeting of interior ministers of ECO member countries began in Tehran with the presence of an Afghan representative

The fourth meeting of interior ministers of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization began on Tuesday, October 28, with the presence of Iranian President Masoud Pezzekian at the Islamic Conference Hall in Tehran.

This meeting is being held after a 15-year hiatus with the aim of interacting and developing regional cooperation with neighboring countries.

Ministers and senior officials from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Iran, along with Secretary General Eko, Omani Interior Minister and Iraqi Deputy Interior Minister attended the meeting as special guests.

In addition to security and law enforcement issues, this meeting will discuss diplomacy, border issues, economic cooperation, management of natural crises and epidemics, and the role of the interior ministries in regional economic development.

Mullah Mohammad Ibrahim Sadr, the senior deputy for security affairs at the Afghan Ministry of Interior, is representing the country at the meeting and is expected to focus on strengthening border and security cooperation with neighbors.
