Nawaf Salam: Diplomacy with Israel was useless; Emphasis on internal unity and relations with Iran and the Arabs
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in an exclusive interview with Al-Mayadeen Online on the “Mr. Minister” program on Thursday, October 23, 2025, emphasized that diplomatic efforts with the Zionist regime have so far been fruitless and that Tel Aviv’s injustices against Lebanon and Palestine continue.
Referring to the Lebanese government’s commitment to Security Council Resolution 1701, he added that the main goal of mobilizing international pressure to stop Israeli aggression is a complete withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the release of Lebanese prisoners.
Salam admitted that diplomatic methods against Israel have not yielded results, but this path remains the government’s main option to prevent the escalation of the war and push back the occupiers.
The Lebanese Prime Minister, praising the role of the “resistance” in liberating southern Lebanon, emphasized the importance of maintaining internal unity and avoiding sectarian conflicts.
He also announced Lebanon’s desire to develop respectful relations with Iran and Arab countries, saying: “We care about having the best relations with Iran.”
