The Pakistani Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack on a police training center in Darreh Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to sources, the attack began with the explosion of a car packed with explosives at the center’s entrance gate, followed by armed attackers entering the building and intense clashes.
Images released from the scene show the sounds of successive explosions and the intensity of the clashes.
Pakistani officials announced that army commandos had been dispatched to the scene to confront the attackers.
