AFP’s claim that Trump will be removed from the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize nominees: rumor or fact

As the world awaits the announcement of the winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, October 10, 2025, a controversial claim by the French news agency (AFP) that US President Donald Trump has been removed from the list of nominees for the prize has been echoed in some media outlets.

The claim that the Nobel Committee removed Trump from the list of candidates due to his controversial statements and policies lacks any credible evidence from AFP or the Nobel Committee and is considered an unfounded rumor.

According to the rules of the Nobel Committee, the list of nominees remains secret for 50 years and there is no “public deletion” or official announcement of the nominees.

The nomination period for the 2025 award closed on January 31, and more than 338 individuals and entities, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations, were nominated.

Trump was nominated several times during his first term (2017-2021), including by American and foreign lawmakers, but there is no evidence that he will be nominated or removed for 2025
