Israeli forces begin withdrawing from Gaza as part of ceasefire agreement
Three divisions of the Israeli army began withdrawing from Gaza City in order to implement the first phase of the ceasefire agreement proposed by US President Donald Trump.
This action is a prelude to a complete cessation of the war, prisoner exchanges, and the widespread entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
According to Israeli media reports, the regime’s army, based on orders from political authorities, has halted offensive operations in Gaza City and limited them to a defensive mode.
In a post on his social media, Trump released a map of the initial withdrawal lines, describing it as “EPIC,” which involves a gradual withdrawal from parts of Gaza in three phases.
Hamas, in its endorsement of the agreement, has emphasized the complete withdrawal of occupying forces and the guarantee of Israel’s commitments.
This development, after 15 months of conflict, is considered a turning point in the Gaza crisis and has been welcomed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
He called for full commitment from both sides and for using this opportunity to realize a two-state solution.
