Explosion on railway tracks: Pakistan: 5 carriages of Jafar Express train derailed
A powerful explosion near the Sultan Kot area of Shikarpur, Sindh province of Pakistan, derailed five carriages of the Jafar Express passenger train, injuring several passengers.
The train, which was traveling from Peshawar to Quetta, was the target of a suspicious attack.
According to Pakistani media outlets such as Dawn and CNN-News18, the explosion occurred on Tuesday (October 7), 2025, near the Sindh-Baluchistan border, causing a three-meter crater in the railway track.
A spokesman for the Pakistan Railway Police confirmed that five carriages derailed and one of them overturned.
Local sources reported that at least five passengers were injured and rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene.
The track repair operation will take about five hours and rail services have been temporarily suspended.
The incident is the seventh attack on the Jafar Express train in 2025, and Pakistani officials, including the Ministry of Railways, blame Baloch separatist groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
