Samood flotilla first ship arrives in Gaza waters, Israel arrests 223 activists

Al-Mayadeen reported that the first ship of the global fleet of Samood has reached the territorial waters of the Gaza Strip, despite the obstacles of the Israeli regime.

Maritime navigation data shows that the ship is only 14 kilometers (about 7.5 nautical miles) from the Gaza coast, while about 30 other boats are still moving forward, although they are 46 nautical miles (85 kilometers) away.

Meanwhile, the organizers of the Samood aid flotilla announced on Thursday that a total of 223 international activists on board the flotilla bound for Gaza had been arrested by Israeli forces.

The arrests came after more than a dozen boats were seized in international waters in the Mediterranean and include prominent activists such as Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandela.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry released a video of Thunberg’s arrest, in which she calmly talks to soldiers and announces that the detainees will be transferred to the port of Ashdod and deported.
