Zalmay Khalilzad: Pakistani Army is making a mistake in military solution against Pakistani Taliban
Former US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has warned of escalating tensions between the Pakistani army and the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) and stressed the need to change political approaches and start talks.
Khalilzad wrote in a post on his X page that recent clashes between the Pakistani army and the Pakistani Taliban have resulted in the deaths of a large number of Pakistani army personnel and civilians.
He added: “It is time for the political approach to change and for the two sides to engage in dialogue.”
Criticizing the Pakistani army’s pursuit of a military solution, he stated: “If the Pakistani army is seeking to find a military solution, it is wrong.”
Khalilzad also called on the Afghan government to help Pakistan in this regard, stressing that this cooperation could help ease tensions.
