Narendra Modi reacts to Trump’s remarks on India-China relations
Responding to US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks claiming that Washington had “lost India and Russia to China,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of India-US relations.
Modi wrote on his Twitter account: “I deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our relationship; India and the United States enjoy a very positive and forward-looking global and comprehensive strategic partnership.”
This reaction came after Trump expressed his concern on the social media platform Truth over recent developments in East Asia, especially after Modi’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin.
He wrote in a post that it seems we lost India and Russia to the deepest, darkest China.
