Hamas delegation led by Khalil al-Hayyah arrives in Cairo for ceasefire talks and humanitarian aid

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas announced that a delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayyah, head of the movement’s political office in the Gaza Strip, arrived in Cairo on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) to discuss with Egyptian authorities ending the war in Gaza, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid, alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people, and strengthening national unity.

According to Hamas, the delegation has begun preliminary consultations with the Egyptian side before the official meetings begin, and the talks will focus on an immediate cessation of hostilities, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt.

Hamas leader Taher al-Nunu stressed that the talks are aimed at ending the suffering of the people of Gaza and achieving a Palestinian national consensus. He also appreciated Egypt’s role in supporting Palestinian issues and described Hamas’s relations with Cairo as stable and strong.
