Trump administration announces $50 million reward for the capture of Nicolas Maduro
U.S. District Judge Pam Bundy announced on Thursday (August 7, 2025) that the U.S. government has offered a $50 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
This amount is double the previous prize of $25 million, announced in January 2025.
In a video purportedly posted on social media, Mr. Bundy described Maduro as one of the world’s biggest drug traffickers and a threat to US national security.
According to Bundy, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has so far seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and his associates, including 7 directly linked to him.
More than $700 million in assets linked to Maduro, including two private jets and nine vehicles, have also been confiscated.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry called the award “political propaganda” and “a ridiculous act,” and considered it an attempt to divert attention from domestic US issues, including the controversies surrounding the Jeffrey Eastin case.
