Israeli Army Rehabilitation Center: 80,000 soldiers undergoing treatment, 26,000 with mental disorders
According to a report by the Zionist newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, citing the rehabilitation department of the Israeli Ministry of War, more than 80,000 soldiers and former soldiers of this regime are receiving treatment and support from this institution due to physical and psychological injuries resulting from the ongoing conflicts, especially the Gaza War, which began on October 7, 2023.
Of these, more than 26,000 people suffer from mental disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which accounts for more than a third of all recipients of rehabilitation services.
The report described the situation as a national challenge and warned that the increasing number of mental health problems and suicides among the military has become a widespread problem.
Half of the rehabilitation sector’s 4.2 billion shekels (about $1.2 billion) budget is allocated to treating mental health problems, but Israeli officials acknowledge that the trend is still upward.
