Israel declares temporary ceasefire in Gaza to allow aid delivery
The Israeli army announced that it has established a temporary and localized ceasefire in some areas of the Gaza Strip from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time in order to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
According to the regime’s statement, this action was taken in coordination with the United Nations and other aid agencies to enable the passage of convoys carrying food and medicine for Gaza residents.
The ceasefire was announced at a time when the months-long siege of Gaza by the occupying forces has created a severe humanitarian crisis in the region.
Human rights organizations have warned that widespread hunger in Gaza, especially among children, is leading to a humanitarian catastrophe.
In the past week alone, more than 70 children have died from malnutrition and hunger.
The United Nations and aid agencies have welcomed the move, but insist that a permanent ceasefire and the full reopening of land ports for the free flow of aid are needed to resolve the crisis.
