Saudi trade delegation arrives in Syria with the aim of signing major contracts
On Wednesday, a large Saudi Arabian trade delegation led by the country’s Minister of Investment, Khalid al-Falih, arrived in Syria to sign agreements worth $4 to $6 billion with the country’s interim government.
This trip was made in line with Riyadh’s support for the Syrian interim government led by Ahmed al-Sharaa after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
The Syrian Minister of Information announced that 44 cooperation agreements in the fields of energy, telecommunications, investment banking, and infrastructure will be signed between the two sides, some of which will be concluded between the Syrian government and private Saudi companies.
On the sidelines of this trip, a white cement production factory was inaugurated with an investment of $20 million, and another project by the Saudi Ithra Company worth $99 million was inaugurated.
The trip comes as southern Syria continues to witness unrest and provides an opportunity to attract foreign investment to rebuild the country after 14 years of war.
