According to news sources, based on claims made in Indian media outlets including India Today and the Times of India, Pakistan is developing an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of carrying a nuclear warhead that can hit targets in the United States.
These reports, which have not yet been officially confirmed, have raised concerns about increasing regional and global tensions.
A senior White House official stated in December 2024 that Pakistan, a nuclear-armed state, is making progress in long-range ballistic missile technology that could pose a potential threat to the United States.
The official, John Finer, the US deputy national security adviser, warned that if this trend continues, Pakistan may gain the ability to attack targets beyond South Asia, including the United States.
However, these claims have not been confirmed by Pakistani officials, and some experts consider it part of political propaganda amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
