The initial moments of the hijacking of the Madeleine ship by the Israeli army

A group of the Israeli army attacked the Gaza relief ship Madeleine this morning, Monday, June 10, preventing it from entering the Gaza coast to deliver aid to the people of the Strip, and arrested the activists and passengers of the ship.

The Israeli Channel 24 reported that the Shayetet Naval Commando Division seized 13 Madeleine ships and they are now being transferred to the port of Ashdod.

Reuters news agency reported, citing the Israeli Foreign Ministry, that the ship is safely en route to the Israeli coast and that the passengers are expected to return to their countries.

The Madeleine ship departed from the port of Catania on the island of Sicily in southern Italy on Sunday, June 1st, bound for the Gaza Strip, with 12 international human rights activists of various nationalities on board.

The goal of the flotilla coalition was to deliver essential aid and open humanitarian ports for the besieged people of Gaza.
