The White House announced on Thursday that the Israeli regime has accepted US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a Gaza ceasefire, while negotiations with Hamas continue.
Hamas had previously announced that it was considering a new agreement proposed by Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Whittaker.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said she can confirm that Whittaker presented a ceasefire proposal to Hamas that Israel supports and endorses; Israel signed it before sending it to Hamas.
Meanwhile, the Islamic resistance movement Hamas also announced that the group’s leadership has received, through mediators, a proposal for a new Gaza ceasefire from Steve Whittaker, the US special envoy for the Middle East, and is considering it.
An Israeli official told the Times of Israel on Thursday that Witkoff’s new offer would include the release of 10 live Israeli prisoners in Gaza and the return of the bodies of 18 prisoners in exchange for a 60-day ceasefire.
