Elon Musk leaves Trump administration after 130 days

Elon Musk, American billionaire and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has resigned from his position as head of the US Office of Government Efficiency at the end of his 130-day tenure in the Trump administration.

On Wednesday night, May 27, Musk announced the end of his mission as a special government employee by posting a message on the X network, writing that he had completed his work to reduce unnecessary spending in the government.

He wrote, “As my term as a special government employee ends, I would like to thank US President Donald Trump for this opportunity.”

Musk is stepping down as his plan to cut $2 trillion from the federal budget has been reduced to $150 billion over time, and he has repeatedly complained about resistance to his plans.

Some senior Trump administration officials opposed Musk’s plans and called his reforms unacceptable in their departments.

Musk’s actions led to thousands of layoffs and sweeping changes in the structure of federal agencies, which were also accompanied by numerous legal lawsuits.
