The American media outlet Politico reported yesterday (Wednesday, 28th of May), citing four Voice of America employees, that all remaining employees at the network will receive termination letters this week.
According to Politico, with the firing of these employees, the Voice of America will most likely cease operations after 80 years of broadcasting.
The report added that the network’s human resources department has informed employees to expect layoff notification emails this week.
According to the report, about 800 remaining VOA employees will be laid off at this stage.
This comes while about 600 contract employees of the network were fired by the Trump administration earlier this month.
