Tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, two countries expel each other’s diplomats
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced yesterday, Wednesday, May 21, that it had expelled a diplomat from the Pakistani embassy in New Delhi for engaging in activities contrary to diplomatic duties.
India has asked the Pakistani diplomat to leave the country within 24 hours.
This is the second official expulsion of Pakistani diplomats from India this month.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has also reportedly warned an employee of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to leave Pakistan within 24 hours.
The Indian ambassador to Pakistan has been told that the person in question has abused his diplomatic position, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Pakistan has also warned Indian diplomats not to abuse their diplomatic position.
