General Faiz Hameed, the former head of Pakistan’s intelligence, was arrested on charges of violating military law

The Pakistan Army on Monday announced that it had arrested former ISI intelligence chief General Faiz Hamid in connection with a land development and settlement case.

In a report by Reuters news agency, it is stated that the Pakistani army has ruled Pakistan for more than 30 years in the 77-year history of this country after independence and is still in charge of important affairs.

The arrest was made on the orders of the Supreme Court, the Pakistan Army said in a statement.

The Pakistan Army added that General Faiz Hamid appears to have violated Pakistan’s martial law in several cases after his retirement.

The announcement, without giving details about these cases, says that the process of military trial has started and the convicted general has been transferred to a military prison.

General Faiz Hamid was the ISI’s intelligence chief from 2019 to 2021.
