Registration of more than 12 thousand cases of child malnutrition in Uruzgan

Media reported More than 12,000 children have been malnourished in Uruzgan province in the past seven months.

At the same time, the United Nations Children’s Support Fund or UNICEF said that not giving breast milk to children is a lack of knowledge in families and economic challenges are the main causes of the increase in malnutrition in this province.

“The seven-month figures we have available are 12,661, and we are still on the red line,” said Sadar Azam Elfat, head of UNICEF’s malnutrition division, at a ceremony marking Breastfeeding Week in Uruzgan.

Abdul Wahid Wahidyar, head of Uruzgan Provincial Hospital, said we ask everyone to make breastfeeding common.

According to UNICEF, in 2023 AD, nearly 26 thousand children in Uruzgan were suffering from malnutrition.
