Chinese robotics companies seek commercial use of humanoid robots

Chinese robotics companies showcased humanoid robots at an exhibition in Beijing that sort postal packages, pack mobile phones and help with household chores.

More than 300 companies, mostly Chinese, have participated in the World Robot Conference, showcasing more than 2,000 robotic products and samples.

The event comes as investor interest in humanoid robots has grown, as China seeks to move the technology from demonstration displays to widespread use in industrial and commercial sectors.

The stock value of Unitry, one of China’s most famous humanoid robot manufacturers, increased nearly sixfold on its first day on the Shanghai stock market.

The robotics industry has become one of the most important areas of technological competition between China and the United States, and automotive and technology companies are also investing in the development of robots equipped with artificial intelligence and automated systems.
