Ukraine attack shuts down Russian oil refinery for six months

Russian officials say the Orsk oil refinery has been completely shut down following a Ukrainian drone attack and repairs to the damaged infrastructure could take up to six months.

According to local officials, the debris damaged key equipment at the refinery, and due to sanctions and the fact that the equipment is imported, the repair process will be delayed.

Ukraine said it had targeted the refinery on Tuesday, causing a fire; the Orsk refinery has an annual refining capacity of about six million tons of crude oil.

Ukraine has increased its attacks on Russian oil refineries this year, with the aim of increasing the costs of the war for Moscow.
