Massive fire in southwest France threatens defense installations
French authorities have reported the spread of a large fire near the town of Bordeaux, warning that the intensity of the fire has caused local thunderstorms and increased the risk of a major disaster.
According to officials, the fire has already destroyed several villages in its path and is putting vineyards, defense installations, a military training ground, and an ammunition storage site at serious risk.
The AFP reported that the fire is threatening four facilities of the Ariane Group, including the M-51 ballistic missile fuel production plant, while facilities of Dassault, Safran and Thales are also at risk.
The French national railway company has also announced that train services have been suspended in parts of southern Bordeaux due to the spread of the fire.
