Chinese authorities have announced that Typhoon Noel reached Guangdong province on Sunday morning, prompting more than 715,000 people to be evacuated from vulnerable areas to safer places.
The storm, which is said to be the strongest storm in China this year, has reportedly caused train services to be canceled, about 350 flights to be canceled, and at least nine people have been injured.
Chinese meteorological authorities have warned that despite the gradual decrease in the intensity of the storm, heavy rainfall and strong winds still threaten parts of Guangdong and Fujian provinces.
