Large security presence in Baghdad’s Green Zone; reports indicate search for fugitive suspect
Iraqi media have reported the widespread deployment of security forces and military equipment, including tanks, in Baghdad’s Green Zone.
According to reports, these security measures were taken after a shooting incident occurred inside the Green Zone, and security forces have launched a search operation to arrest a fugitive suspect.
Al-Ma’ulouma news agency reported that Iraqi security forces are pursuing an individual who is said to be wanted in corruption cases; however, Iraqi officials have not yet released further details about the identity of this individual and the extent of the incident.
